Kathleen Pequignot is originally from New York, where she began her art studies in traditional oil painting techniques at the Bethlehem Art Studio at the age of fourteen.
In 1985 Kathleen received a BA from Stetson University in Deland, Florida. While attending Stetson, she studied art design, watercolors, acrylics, oils, drawing, and calligraphy with Fred Messersmith.
After Stetson, she pursued teacher education classes and was certified in English 5-9, History 6-12, Elementary Education, and Art K-12.
She began selling her art on the internet in 1998. Collage elements and the use of charcoal, ink, and pastel are used in many of her works. She believes there is a strong connection between music and the visual arts, and much of her artwork includes musical references and elements.
She enjoys sketching from nature, experimenting with various mixed-media projects, keeping journals filled with original design ideas, painting miniature art, and exploring various creative fiber arts projects including embroidery, textile art, and modern quilting.
Her art prints have been published by HomeGoods, Bed Bath & Beyond, Canson Art Papers, and other home decor companies.
